Serious dog training help! Pulling on Leash?
I have a male beagle lab mix who is 1 year old, and I have recently took him to the vet On Friday to be exact ...and it didn't go so well.He gets very excited when he sees other dogs. He started pulling really hard on the leash and barking and yelping when he couldn't get near them. People actually thought that my dog was aggressive because of the pulling. My dog isn't aggressive, but he does have problems with self control on the leash. I know that it's all my fault because I haven't been consistent with the leash training, and I'm the one to blame . I just get so frustrated because he pulls so hard that hes actually choking himself. I've recently bought the gentle leader, but I want to train him self control and leash manners, but I just don't know what to do? It was very embarrassing going to the vet because all the other dogs there were very calm. He doesn't bite, jump, or have any other problem...it's just the pulling I would like to be able to walk my dog without him turning my hand purple from all the pulling.By the way, I was wondering if you guys can give me any ideas on some games that can help my dog let out all his energy. I walk him for an hour , but it doesn't seem to be enough. Any ideas?Thank you I can't take him swimming.....hes afraid of the water.
DS: Why dog training classes rarely address behavior issues beyond puppy/beginning classes?
I was just thinking and pondering that all the dog training classes I've seen no longer address behavioral issues pass beginning. Or do yours? Is there a reason why most dog training places don't address correcting behavioral issues in classes pass beginning classes? Since behavioral issues will most likely also come up pass puppy months and or a 8 week beginning course, why wouldn't they also address them in those classes? It's weird to me, because I would think they would continue to. Given, intermediate and advance classes need a lot time to teach new cues proof old ones but I think behavioral issues should also be addressed. I don't know. Any opinions or experiences?
I need dog training help?
So my dog is 5 years old and is a German Shepard mix. Most of his life he has only occasionally gone on walks and I regret never taking him on walks but before you accuse me of being a bad owner it was because I was young and couldn't handle the dog when we first got him sorry I had to say that . I am so sad that I never got in enough walks but within the last 4 5 months me and my friend have been walking him and I know he's in the habit of tugging on leashes not as bad as he used to and getting a bit reactive around other dogs never biting or attacking . I'm patient and I know it'll take some time for him to be behaved but if you have any tips for training I would be grateful

How much does it cost for dog training classes where you live?
I often see people on here claiming that they cannot afford to take their dog to training classes.I live in the UK, and I pay 7 for a 1 year family membership to the dog training club, plus 2 per lesson, one lesson per week lessons working towards the KC Good Citizen scheme. There was another class elsewhere in the city that was better for problem dogs, endorsed by apdt apdt.co.uk that was roughly the same price.Are training classes really expensive where you live? Are they out of the range of most people? Or do people just not realise how affordable training classes are? For those not familiar with British currency, there's a currency converter here x rates.com calculator.html Thanks to Rayven and Silver for your answers so far.Just to add, I'm not talking about specialist training, just basic commands sit, stay, heel housebreaking... etc for the average pet owner.
Seeing eye-dog training?
I believe seeing eye dogs are amazing. But I've never seen the training they go through. A friend of mine says that she watches a dog handler somtimes train a seeing eye dog outside her apartment. She proceeded to tell me that it was heartbreaking because whenever the dog made a very made move cross the street on a red light, or walk their owner into a poll the handler would " beat the sh out of the dog." Now I know there are some extreme dog training but, is this right or should she call someone to take care of this person? Just concerned
