I need help finding good dog training books or web sites?
hello i just got me two puppies I have plenty of time to spend with these pups and i want to train the hell out them haha I was wondering if you could help me out a bit and share with me helpful books or dvds or web sites or sources that have great results and work LET ME KNOW thanks
Do some people have magic dog training wands or does everyone pay for doggy school?
Sooooooo..................i have the time and i want my dog to learn a million things I have had her a week, she is a teenager and terrified of people. I am starting with small things like sit, down, come etc.....and loving her and spoiling her. I hear of SO many ppl who train their own dogs and do a GREAT job. Those home schooled pups can do all kinds of tricks And some of those smarties have been rescued from shelters and pounds and were 6 yrs old before learning a thing So i have a teen, im taking things one day at a time with her. Is it possible for ME to teach her all those awesome tricks? Or do i have to take her to doggy school? Do i have to buy dog training books and dvds? Do some people have a magical touch with dogs and others just don't? If i work with her everyday will i get results? Am i just dreaming that i can do it on my own and i will have a dog who knows 100 tricks. Does it depend on the dog? i would imagine it is all about the trainer, not the dog. And i want to spend the time with her and teach her myself and not have to spend the extra cash on doggy school.i should add when i meant tricks, i mean things like to always come when called, to obey when i say stop as she might be getting into harms way ect....not the " go get me a soda" but those tricks do sounds fun. I am sure i will have a few silly tricks for her to do also, but for the most part i am concerned for her safety. also, i understand the great things about doggy classes, but what price range am i looking at?
Getting into dog training ?
I have been thinking for a while now about dog training, im 15 and will soon be thinkin about college etc...and i would love to train small dogs, i have the abilityand patience for this type of thing, howvever i just don't know where to start,any help please?
A good dog training book?
I have 4 different types of dogs. 3 are mixed breeds and 1 is a dachshund. The dachshund is trained already. The other 3 I need some suggestions. I have 2 outside that I need to be trained to guard the property and I have one that is inside to guard the inside of the house. If it helps I know that Furby is mixed with Great Pyrenees and we think Australian Shepherd, Bully is a mixed bull mastiff. The inside guard dog is a mixed Collie. Any suggestions anyone would have will be greatly appreciated. These suggestions will also be used during my volunteer time at the local pet rescue center. Thanks.
In what aisle at Petco can I find a dog training clicker?
Have you ever heard of or used "a better dog training"? Its located in TX?
Their website is abetterdogtrainingtexas.com. Their method of training is basically teaching you how to be the " pack leader" . I'd really like to find someone who has used this program before so they can tell me if it works or not. I need to get my dog training because he bit someone and in order to keep him that's one of the many things I have to do. I would have done it regardless . I know they work with dogs that have bitten someone before. Its going to be 400 dollars for four lessons. The lessons are a couple of hours long a piece and there's going to be about two weeks in between each lesson. that time between lessons is supposed to be for me to practice with my dogs . Oh I forgot to mention that they will train both my dogs not just one....do you think I should do this? I really don't like the idea of spending 400 dollars on training. It's a lot of money. That's why i'd love to find someone who has used this program before.
Has anyone watched the Cesar Milan dog training dvds-and if you have what did you think of them? Worth buying?
I saw this set of 3 Cesar Milan training videos and they looked good was wondering if anyone could review them. Thank you I don't have a difficult dog she just has some " issues" and has already been to a beginner training class and we're going to the next one in the Fall. But I came across these dvds on Amazon and they looked interesting and maybe helpful. I did buy some other basic training dvds and they were okay were helpful in getting my dog to sit, stay, etc. but not what I'm looking for. I don't get Cesar's shows here or would check them out first. Someone mentioned Victoria Stillwell and I loved her show have seen all of them Well, anyway was just wondering if anyone had actually seen Cesar's training dvds not the show and what they thought of them if they were helpful

I am sixteen and was wondering if it was possible to get certified as a dog trainer at my age. I also live in California if that helps. If its possible to get the license, how long will the process take?

Invisible fence dog training?
I have a 9 year old black lab. We got the invisible fence for our yard. We live out on 58 acres of property but got the fence cause at the one end of our property is the high way. But now I can get my dog to go for walks with me out on the property cause she's afraid to go accross the fence what can I do?
Help in dog training!?
I rescued a Pomeranian mix from the pound. He was a stray so they didn't have any background info on him. His estimated age is 1 2 years old and his name is Max. Max has trouble learning commands or most likely I'm not training him correctly. I'm pretty sure he knows I'm the pack leader because he always waits for me to go through the door first and always walks by my side and not in front of me. The only command he understands is 'No.' Otherwise he doesn't even look up at me when I say his name or looks confused when I try to teach him a basic command like 'sit.' I don't repeat the word over and over and I keep the training sessions short. He isn't motivated by kibble, treats, or any foods or even his toys. I'm on a really tight budget and can't afford a trainer or group classes right now.Also, he doesn't do well wit other dogs. He won't lunge at other dogs during walks or anything. But, if one approaches him he'll start growling.I'd really appreciate some helpful advice

Dog Training Certification?
I used to have a job training dogs and I was looking into finding another similar dog training summer job but it looks like I need to be certified first. Where can I find a dog training certification school?
