You should go to a reputable local professional, dog training is too nuanced to really learn off a static web page. Add, there are good specialized websites for specific issues like fearfuldogs.com but you really need to have someone guide you. There used to be an older website called Dr P's that was decent with general info. [ uwsp.edu/ psych/ dog/ dog.htm ] but most of the links are dead now. Also, sites/ links depend on the style you would like to use clicker vs traditional. |

Hi, Contact your local dog training and obedience school. Ask your vet for details. A dog training school can be of great help in training your puppy. Hope that this has helped. |

If youre really interested in becoming a trainer, and want to know all the information- you are much better off doing a course on dog training and behaviour, rather than consulting a webiste that wont give you as much information. If youre in Australia- this is the best course you can do: ndtf.net.au/ new/ html/ dog_trainer_certification.html It is expensive, but well worth the expense- as you get tutored by the best dog trainers in the Coutry, and world renowned trainers and behavioural experts. It is best to get as much information as you possibly can, so that you can give your clients as much advice as possible- and the best advice possible. There really arent many dog trianing websites that are going to give you a complete picture- as they generally all focus on one training style, not every training style- it is best to research everything- because every dog is different, and they are going to need different styles of training. Apart from training courses, the rest of your good information is going to come from literature. There are a heap of great dog training books out there, youve probably seen a heap of Cesar Milan books already- many people worship these books, There are also a tonne of great dog training books out there by much more qualified trainers and behaviourists: Steve Linsday is one of the best- he is actually coming to Australia next month for the 1st and only time (details are on the NDTF site) he has written 3 massive books on training dogs- although they are very technical. Another great book that covers most of the technical information is called Exelreated learning: explaining (in plain english) how your dog learns and how best to teach them. Unfortunately today is the one day I have left this book in the car. It is written by a lady called Pam I think- cant remember her last name. Good luck learning more about dog training- I hope you find some great info out there! |
