How does one get involved in dog Agility training?
I'm interested in getting involved in this sport, because I'd love to have that kind of motivation to excerise and, more importantly, because I'd love to spend time with a dog in that activity. The problem is, I have no idea how to get started...and what kind of dog would be good for this activity. I need one that would enjoy this sport but that could be good with kids I have a little girl and is affectionate Can you help?
Dog agility training?
I have a terrier mix. He needless to say has a ton of energy and is smart. I just found a dog park that is 20 minutes from us closest I could find . It even has an agility course. I have been interested in challenging my Hoppy with agility training for quite a while and now with the park I would love to know how I would do that by myself. Are there specific directions or is it just complete the course with treats Any help would be wonderful Thank you

How to sign up for 4h dog agility/train?
I have a dog that would be GREAT for agility Yesterday he ran in circles around our coffee table, lounge chair, and rocking chair in tight quarters without so much as touching a corner he also jumped out garden while running around outside today 4ft W by 6 inches tall? ish , with plenty of room to spare He's also jumped 2 ft high easily before So i was wondering how to get him into 4h agility and how to train him. He's about a year old and we need to get his energy out before he drives us all crazy haha we don't know what breed he is, we think definetly beagle in him, and maybe some yellow lab but he's long, lanky and skinny with a curly tail and stands about 1 1 & 1 2 ft tall. he's a carmel tan with a black saddle down his back. thanks
Terrier dog + agility training?
My boyfriend and I have just adopted a terrier from wood green animal shelter. His name is flea and they think he is about 9 years old, although they're not completely sure. Although he is 9ish now he's still very lively and acts like a puppy at times. He needs lots of boredom busters to keep him occupied and keep his brain challenged. I have a king kong for when I leave the house so he won't attack everything but I was wondering about agility training. He has a slight gait problem like most terriers that the vet is not worried about so I don't feel like it will cause him a problem. Would a dog of his age size be able to do agility training? Also because of the circumstances he was removed from he is not used to being with other dogs, he is very friendly and only wants to play with other dogs but doesn't understand the jumping and barking at them isn't going to make me let him play with them. I am using a gentle leader and a halti on walks with him and reward him when he walks calmly.I was thinking of taking him to puppy socialising classes at my local vets, I know technically he isn't a puppy, but would it be deemed dangerous as he has been known to get a bit over excited and accidentally nip dogs in the past.Any advice on either areas would be great. Flea i179.photobucket.com albums w290 faultybarbiedoll fle.jpgI'm still not sure about the socializing classes, the shelter said he needs to be socialized with other dogs so he learns to be respectful of them as well as me. I can control him perfectly well, but it's going to take a while to get it down to a fine art because of his past. I guess I just want to follow what the shelter says and give him a better life than his previous owners. The other option is to take him to the dog walking areas but I'm not keen on these after to what happened to my last dog here. Would either of these two be acceptable for socializing him?
