The Irish Kennel Club ikc.ie/ index.php However I should warn you that being registered means nothing. A few years ago I got a cocker spaniel from a ikc registered breeder and only after the deal was finalised did we find out that it was inbred. When he was four year old he became very ill and was diagnosed with AIHA. This is an autoimmune disease that is passed on genetically and as such was likely the result of inbreeding and will have affected a huge number of the dogs bred by this "registered breeder ". The dog died two weeks later from multi-organ failure. Don't rely on the list of registered breeders to be a list of responsible breeders. Get your own checklist of things you want to know beforehand and make sure you see the parents, the vaccination cards, the pedigree and a general look around the whole operation before you buy. |
