Dog Care
Dog care information
How much do you spend on dog care a year?
I read online that people say 1,000 2,000. But that seems over the top. I have a dog and I spend $30.00 every other month for food. Tick and heart worm stuff is $50.00 every three months. Treats are $10 a month. Shampoo is $10 dollars every four months. Vet stuff is $20.00 every three months. And grooming is about $60.00 every four months. There are a lot of one time purchases I have made too such as brush, toys, bed, crate, etc etc that I won't have to buy again. Have I missed some important dog care expenses?
What are some little tips you have learnt along the way regarding dog care? For example.....?
I learnt that its best to brush a dogs coat first before washing to prevent further matting
Question about dog care?
Okay, in March my guardian is allowing me to get a Chihuahua. I also have two cats, one I raised practically from kitten hood, he's very, very sweet and loves other animals, besides big dogs, haha. But, I know he gets along with small dogs 'cause I tested it out yesterday with a friends Chihuahua. So I guess besides worrying about the other " alpha" cats reaction, what are some things a Huahua needs?
My dog cares more about the treat than the trick what can I do about that?
She wont stop staring at the treat and wont listen to me, all she does is sit.

Dog Food options and other dog care options.......please need urgent advice?
I have a few questions that maybe you can help me with.First off I lost my job a while back and the job market here is finally starting to pick up so that is a real blessing but my husband was laid off on Friday and we have a dog that requires special care which isn't cheap I don't want either of my dogs to suffer from this hard time and hopefully we will manage to land back on our feet very soon.First question Our poodles healthcare. We have been paying out between $150 $300 dollars a vet visit everytime he has had a flair up which is now every 6 8 weeks . Will most vets be willing to work with us and be understanding?I mean he has to have treatment but we don't have the money to pay that out all at once.2. Dog food. Both our dogs eat the same food but our sick one needs this specific food more than the other one. Would it be more cost effective to switch our healty dog to a cheaper lower quality food so we can make the food our sick dog needs last? What would the pros and cons of that be?Would it end up costing us more? We currently buy 1 bag a month and it costs 25 dollars Last question Flea and Tick Its time to order more and We can afford it. How should we handle that?Like I said I hope we can land on our feet soon My husband has a masters degree and we are both actively looking for new jobs Please keep our family in your thoughtsWe've already cut everything but internet 20 bucks a month because most jobs apps are online these days.and that was before he lost his jobAdd my dog has chronic pancreatitis

New indoor dog care questions?
Hello. We recently got a new dog. She is five years old and already house trained very well. Our previous dog was always an outside dog so having an indoor dog is foreign to us.I know that we need to set up a routine for her. So we were thinking to feed her when we got up around 8 00 or so. Should we only feed her one more time in the day? Just a breakfast and dinner, with a few treats during the day? When should dinner be, because I want her to be able to use the bathroom before we go to bed. She'll sleep inside during the night. Also, another concern is how often should we take her out to do her business, every one or two hours? She doesn't seem to indicate to us when she needs to go outside, so we've just had to play the guessing game.Lastly, when no one is home, should she stay outside? I assume it probably depends on the amount of time we're gone. Like, if we're gone for more than an hour she needs to go outside for sure? We don't want her to have an accident, or worse, have to hold it in forever.I couldn't fine any of this information on the internet, so if anyone has any good sites about indoor dog care, we'd appreciate it Thanks a lot.I guess I should have told everyone that we have a completely fenced in backyard. Wooden fence, 6 or 7 feet tall, with no spacings between the boards. The answers are great so far, thank you
Do you think it should be required by law for potential dog owners to go through dog care classes?
I think so. There are so many ridiculous people out there and in this section. I mean it is common sense really and they are usually unprepared to handle anytype of dog care, because they cant afford it, are too lazy, and etc
Some dog care advice please?
I am going to be getting a large dog soon. he is going to have to spend most of his time outdoors because hes somewhat destructive. the problem is that i live in tucson, arizona and it get SCORCHING hot in the summer. what can I do to make him more comfortable in the heat?thanks I know he's destructive because we're going to be watching him for a friend whose going on vacation. At their house they can put him in their pretty much indestructible basement. but we don't have anything like that. Its not going to be permanent, I guess I should have mentioned that
