Puppies, like all other creatures, vary enormously, not only by breed and size, but by the way they develop. A suggestion is get the puppy used to doing it's business on newspaper, (which keeps the floor covering clean, and hopefully absorbs any urine. ) Gradually move the paper closer and closer to the back door/ exit you want the puppy to use to go out and empty itself. Like any youngsters, the puppy will adore being praised, so when it does well, praise is vital. Good luck, Mike t. |

I started to train mine as early as 3 months. No age requirement is actually necessary. If you and your dog are close to one another, it is easy to train your dog. It's just like, "Why would you follow someone whom you barely know?? " Give love. |

There is no age limit to training a dog, it is how you train it. But you must remember puppies can't hold it overnight until they are at least 4 months of age. Try taking a look at this page, it is very helpful in training puppies. maccvets.co.uk/ fact_sheets/ fact_sheets_puppies_house_training.htm |

How long have you had the dog? They need to know what is expected. Some of your problem might be that you are not getting the previous odor out of the kitchen where he had his accidents. If not you are enticing him to go in the same place. A odor eliminator especially made for pet stains is effective. Make sure you are taking the dog out first thing in the morning and after meals and every 2 to 3 hours. Do not just let him out. Someone needs to stay with him so that he receives praise immediately. Do not make a fuss about the accidents. Just clean it up and go on. Some dogs take longer. Stay with it. One day he will get the message. |

Your dog should be housetrained by now. To break this problem habit you need to work out why the 'accidents' happen. Is it when the dog is home alone and gets anxious? Is it because there has been a break to routine that day and the dog is unsettled? Is the dog becoming sexually mature and is weeing to mark its territory? Is it happening at night because the dog hears strange noises outside eg foxes etc? Once you find a possible reason for the accidents you can tackle the cause. |

After strict training a dog should b housebroken by age 1. Possible the dog isn't being taken out enough. My dog would get excited and urinate, it took her over a year to outgrow that. I hope this helps. |

It is all according how long you have had the dog, if you have only had it a few weeks and it has been in kennels prior to this time, then it may take a little longer. However, any puppy can be housetrained within 2 weeks if done correctly, without the use of a crate, or scolding, but lots of patience. If it is still weeing in the house despite being taken out regularly, it may have a UTI. |
