Dog Trainer
Dog trainer information
How do I figure out if i have to certify myself to be a hearing dog or service dog trainer in my state?
I live in Alaska if that helps any. What do you think i should go to college for? Animal Behavior? Psychology? Do you know of any schools that would train me to be a service dog trainer or a hearing dog trainer How long would I have to go to a certain school for? I looked a bergin university of canine studies and they had a 6 week seminar on how to train a service dog. Is this what i would be looking for? What is the best way to be accepted into a school like that? Thanks
Do you have to go to a dog training school to become a service dog trainer?
I mean the schools that are like Bergin. Can you be a service dog trainer for other people not just your dog if you know what to teach them? Is it if you go through that certain school do they give you a certificate of some sort that tells you that you are allowed to train them a give them to other people?
Can a professional dog trainer give me some advise ?
I am interested in getting certified to become a professional dog trainer. Can anybody give me the name of a good school to go to learn what i need to know about training dogs ?
If I want to become a dog groomer would it be a good idea to volunteer at a shelter or with a dog trainer?
If I am interested in becoming a dog groomer would it be a good idea to volunteer at a shelter or with a dog trainer as much as possible? Has anyone else done the same and how did it help you?
How to become a dog trainer...........?
Do any of you have stories of how you became a professional dog trainer? Also, could anyone point me to any websites or recommend any specific classes or seminars? I live in Orlando,FL if that matters. I'm only 14 years old so I have plenty of time to sort this out. I just want to know the steps you take in order to get a license to becoming a dog trainer. Right now, I train dogs as a hobby, not for money, just for the experience. Also, do I need or should I get a license to be a dog trainer. It's just basic obedience and dog behavioral problems.
Alot of questions about being a dog trainer/dog behaviorist. ALOT?
Hi, well, im looking into becoming a dog behaviorist dog trainer. its something ive always wanted to do, but ive been doing massive amounts of research, and i am now POSITIVE that this is what i want to do. im sixteen right now. ive done so much research, and im so sure this is what i want to do. but there are some things im still a bit unsure about.the first thing is, where can i go to get hands on experience? im planning on volunteering at an animal shelter, but i want to do more. are there seminars i can go to? i got 120 bucks for my birthday, and i would like to invest in classes if possible? what else can i do to get hands on experience?and im having trouble with a couple things... how would i advertise? should i take up a job for training at pets mart, or something like that? should i post fliers? if someone could help me out with that part, i would REALLY appreciate it. thats one thing im quite confused about haha.and at what age would be a good time to start? i still have alot of research and learning to do, i know. im in no way even near ready. im just not quite sure at what age would be a good time to start.another thing. i would like to find some trainers i could possibly work with, but im un sure as to where to find them? and how to ask. it would be great if someone could give me some advice. im not an especially social person, but im working really hard to over come my kind of anti social side. i just dont know where to look for trainers who i can work with.i would like to work with aggressive dogs mostly, so i was wondering if there is somewhere that teaches you how to deal with aggressive dogs specifically?i would really like some help figuring out where to find some trainers i can work with.perhaps i should look into volunteering at a pittbull rescue or something like that?ive been working with a friends dog who was chicken aggressive. hes a black lab mix, and all muscle. he got out, and killed several chickens. so ive been working with him for a couple weeks, and i can get him to walk past chickens, even let him walk up to them now and sniff them without being aggressive. this dog has had no training. and he always pulls on the owners leash. the owners have no control over him. and he listens perfectly to me. one time i called another dog that they have, and it wouldnt come. so he went running and grabbed it by the collar, and dragged her over to me. i was amazed.so i think im doing pretty good so faranyways, i know thats alot to cover, but i would appreciate your help so much. really. it means alot. thank you so much for taking the time out to read and reply. cheersAndrew
What defines a good dog trainer.?
Since there are so many schools of thought on how to train your dog. What do you think makes up a good dog trainer
Question for dog trainers, dog sitters, dog handlers and any one else who works with dogs?
Has there ever been a time where a certain dog intimidated you? I know all of what you do is about working with dogs and I know one shouldn't feel that way, but has there ever been occasions where a dog made you feel uneasy? How did you handle it?
Can anyone refer me to an awesome Milwaukee dog trainer?
My 16 week old Weimaraner has some serious issues. We have read tons of books, applied loads of techniques nothing has worked. We think it is time to seek professional help. I don't want a trainer that is going to focus on tricks and stuff like that, he needs housebreaking and manners work. I am willing to travel a 50 mile radius around the Milwaukee area. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks There is no way I would drop him off anywhere I am utterly devoted to him and I want to do everything myself. His issues are 1 housebreaking. He will ring the bell on the door sometimes not all the time and he will not get into a schedule for anything, he is VERY bad with the housebreaking when guests are around. 2 He is biting and scratching drawing blood. 3 We can not leave him alone ever, not only will he cry and howl until we come home, he goes potty in his crate. Even though we make sure he doesn't have to go before we leave, we are never gone for more than two hours. Those are the bad ones there are minor ones like jumping and pulling as well.
Considering becoming a dog trainer, need advice please?
I have been playing with this idea for quite some time. My family is very supportive for me to do this. I was wondering what are some good schools that offer programs for dog trainers. I was looking into a school called Animal Behavior College, anyone heard about this one? Also my family suggested me volunteering at a shelter or animal rescue. Whats the best way to find volunteer work? Any suggestions please
What kind of salary would a guide/hearing dog trainer be on?
How can i ask a dog trainer questions?
I'm Looking to be a Dog Trainer....?
How would I go about doing this? I'm only 15 right now 16 in April , so I'm still in high school. I live in Texas, so if anyone knows any good colleges I could look at around here, that would be great. The college doesn't have to be in Texas, but I would like it to be close. I would also like to know if there are any volunteer places I could go to for more experience. The reason I want to be a dog trainer is because I see hear of people turning their dogs in because of " bad behavior" that can easily be fixed. I also want to have my own dog shelter, where people could volunteer and help out if they wanted, and I could pass on my learnings to them. I would really like help on this, so if you have any suggestions, please help.
Personal protection dog (trainers and showers) please answer?
Okay, so ive been working with a trainer on personal protection with my 9 month old ACD male intact. The trainer im working with says that he will excel at it...for about a week we have started the " run and tackle" . The trainer says he has EXTREAMLY high drive and needs to easy up a little...When he hits the man...he HITS. for a 40lb dog he can send someone to the ground. How can you get him to ease up a little? Also...he is reg. and will be shown in conformation as well as herding and flyball and agility, How many titles can you put on a show dog? He is a herding dog so will agaility flyball and PP count on this breed? thanksits for his health..because he is so young.
