Question: Can anyone refer me to an awesome milwaukee dog trainer?

My 16 week old Weimaraner has some serious issues. We have read tons of books, applied loads of techniques nothing has worked. We think it is time to seek professional help. I don't want a trainer that is going to focus on tricks and stuff like that, he needs housebreaking and manners work. I am willing to travel a 50 mile radius around the Milwaukee area. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! There is no way I would drop him off anywhere I am utterly devoted to him and I want to do everything myself. His issues are #1 housebreaking. He will ring the bell on the door sometimes not all the time and he will not get into a schedule for anything, he is VERY bad with the housebreaking when guests are around. #2 He is biting and scratching drawing blood. #3 We can not leave him alone ever, not only will he cry and howl until we come home, he goes potty in his crate. Even though we make sure he doesn't have to go before we leave, we are never gone for more than two hours. Those are the bad ones there are minor ones like jumping and pulling as well. |

Have an idea that a new member is added in yr family. Talk to him, play with him. If he does any mistake say "no ", warn him and if he does again, beat him on his back. But don't beat him often, because later he feel nothing for yr beatings and he won't have any idea why you are beating. have lots of biscuits in your hand, and train him. First train him to sit , when you say so. how to do is, push his back to make him to sit and say "sit ". offer him a biscuit. do at least 5-10 times. after that don't give him biscuits and tell him to sit, finally he will learn, what to do. so by this way, you can make him to shake hands, lie down, etc.. but if u want to make him to listen, speak to him well.. train him soon, as he is young. Else he wont listen, when he grows big. All the best. |

The top trainers belong to the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. Here is a link. nadoi.org/ |

Unless you take a class specifically FOR tricks or training a dog to be an actor or in commercials, I don't know of ANYBODY who teaches tricks, vs basic obedience. Basic manners are what most dogs need. Weims learn best when pleasing their owners, so I hope you will get a trainer who helps YOU teach the dog, not plan to "drop the dog off " for training, minus the owner. While the trainer may be able to get the dog to work for them, it rarely translates well (back at home, when they are no longer around) even if they promise to show you how to work the dog. You may need an animal behaviorist, but you did not bother to tell us the issue(s). Your vet or your breeder (if a caring & responsible one) may be able to help you. Your area also has a Weim club & Weim Rescue. They would also be good sources for Weim trainer recommendations. Not every trainer works well with the breed, unless they understand them. Please feel free to give us more details. |
