Dual duty dog training/bark collars?

Question: Dual duty dog training/bark collars?

(Posted by: Footballmama on 2009-09-08 15:52:19)

I am looking for a bark collar for our new puggle. We are trying to find one that is an automatic bark collar, but can also be used with a remote for training purposes. I have only found one out there. Does anyone know of any others?

I looked and looked and did find one that is made by "INNOTEK " It works for barking (which my daughter uses it for) and it also works for keeping the dog away from the counter etc. It works great and the dog only gets a vibration (nothing electrical) you can try holding the collar in your hand t feel the vibration and adjust it accordingly. Mine even works from the seond floor to her in the yard trying to dig etc. the further the dog is away the higher I set the numbers. If she is in the house and close i set it to a level 2 or 3. Look it up o your computer - you won't be dissappointed' Much luck to you

Usually it's either or. The important part is to get the right voltage if you do find the right kind you want. Make sure it's specifically for small dogs. I once had a customer who came in because a bark collar burned his dog. Start on the lowest setting for small dogs and increase if necessary.

Honestly I don't think you should even be using a bark collar. They are dangerous. If it is accidentally set to high it can really hurt your dog and if the batteries die and you don't know this the dog can run out on a road and get hit by passing cars. This happened to my neighbors dog. He was only a smaller dog so one hit was all it took to kill him.

I used a citronella collar on my dog and it worked like a charm. They have automatic and remote citronella collars. The citronella is completely safe, they just hate the smell, so it works great as a deterrent. Please, please, please don't use a bark collar. There is no reason to inflict any kind of pain in your pet if there is an alternate and effective method. Plus, most of the shock collars out there are for dogs '5lbs to 100lbs'. That just doesn't seem fair for the little breeds. Hope this helps :)
