Dog Training

Question: Do you recommend any good dog training videos?

Depends upon your dog. Have a tiny one or a huge one, a smart one or a stubborn one? I used this basic Obedience DVD, trained my GSD in a season to almost perfect! Don't ya just love perfect! Of course, you have to continue to practice and at least annually review all their training and shape it up if it gets sloppy. Some of these are used for the dogs he trains for Police and Schutzhund work. You don't have time or experience for those. Just use the Puppy or Obedience DVD. I also don't agree with isolating the puppy with just the owner.....but he's producing a Police Dog Puppy not a Pet puppy. Use your discreation Lots of great info on this website in his writings and in forums of people who own GSDs. Well, i do not know of any videos, but this is the best and most accurate trainer i have seen in my whole life. Better than Victoria Stilwell if you ask me. Go to his site and read his ebooks. Most are free to read, and there is an ebook for basically any issue that comes up with your dog. Read ones that are necessary and i also recommend that you read Dog/ Puppy Pack Structure. It is so helpful, i am not sure if he has videos, but i think he makes DVDs and a lot of stuff. leerburg.com/ Good luck!! Also, don't go on youtube or anything like that. Half of those dog training videos are full of crap LOL. Also, sign your dog up for obedience classes, but ask your vet what dog trainer he recommends first. Sometimes they have dog training videos to buy and obedience classes are good for you and the dog. Good luck again! :)

I would suggest that you decide what you want to accomplish in training your dog and to what degree the dog needs to be trained. Think about it with respect to levels of training; beginner, intermediate, or advanced. The kind of dog and age are also factors in selecting a video for training.
