I do not know anyone who would say that it is. |

Dog training is not animal cruelty until you cross the line and physically abuse it or mentally abuse it |

It depends what you consider to be training. It doesn't have to be cruel. |

What would make you make such a statement? My dogs are Border Collies, and are trained on sheep almost daily, and they love it. |

The only way you can consider it animal cruelty is if you hit your animal (this is not a good way to train any animal) |

Training is the best investment you can make in your relationship with your dog. You'll need to do your homework first, though, to learn how to communicate what you want in a way that your dog will understand. Stay consistent and patient, reward your dog for getting it right and remember: you can train a dog of any age. lnk.nu/ dogtime.com/ swz.html |

The training concept is not as controversial as much as training methods are. In our so called 'kinder gentler world', training techniques that have been used for hundreds of years are now being called 'cruel'. Using corrections and adversives are being seen as 'cruel' by many people who call themselves dog trainers or ahem dog behaviorists. Many of these people couldn't reliably house train a dog let alone teach it the finer points of obedience, hunting, herding, protection or other types of work. They just want management. Dog pulls on the leash lets get it a no pull harness to rub his arm pits raw instead of training the dog properly that it is not in his best interest to pull the owner down the street. Wave a "cookie " in the dog's face in order to control that dog's aggression issue instead of reminding this dog firmly who fills the dog food bowl. Yeah people are stupid. |
