Hello, you must slowly take the food away. Start by once-in-a-while not giving him the food, but instead just hold the food and praise. Then, it'll be a game for him. He'll have to guess when you're going to give him a treat. ALWAYS mix it up! Then, without food, he'll eventually do it. BUT, make sure you give him a treat once a week for doing a sit, down, or roll over. Now for teaching him the tricks, sit is easiest. - Say sit, place him in a sit with pressure on the lower back with your hand similar to a bite (he'll sit, NOT TOO MUCH PRESSURE :S). - Say down while he's in a sit, and place him in a down by: + giving him the scent, bringing the food down inches from his nose so he has to down + OR, place him physically into a down and praise and treat. - Roll over, in a down, physically roll him over AFTER you say your command word. treat after the roll (RIGHT AFTER). -Stand up, in whatever his position, give him the scent of the food and bring it up and away from him. He'll most likely follow. DON'T forget the command signal first! NOW THE TRICK TO IT ALL. One trick at a time. PATIENTS, and consistancy! Have fun! |
