Potty/house training a dog.?
So I'm trying to train my dog to use the restroom on a mat. Everyone told me that I should put his nose in it, and then take him to the mat to get him trained. However, when i put his nose in his urine he licks it. I don't like this because I don't think its sanitary and I believe by him licking it, he doesn't take it as a punishment. Is this normal? If not what other ways can I let him know peeing in the house is bad. He's a puppy. 9 weeks old.
Dog house training question?
I have to leave my dog alone for about 7 hours a day and while he is perfect about his house training I hate to make him hold it all day. I was going to get an indoor dog potty just to put out while I am at work but I am afraid it may ruin his house training abilites when it is not availabe. I was planning on leaving it in the garage when I am home and he can just go outside. Does anyone know if this will have a negative effect on his house training?
Puppy house training tips?
When house training is leashing the puppy to yourself a good method to use?When i ask about house training usually the 1st method someone will say is leash training.Have anyone use this method and was it successful?Thank you.PS What kind of food would you say is good.I have a 9 week old Schnauzer and she is now eating nature recipe its made with all natural stuff but she seem to poop like every time she eats then i take her out to potty.Is that good she poop every time?I thought if the food was a good food the pup dog woudn't go poop as much.Note She do not poop that many time maybe out of 10 she will go 4 5 times a day.I take her out maybe 7 10 times a day.
Does anyone have any tips on house training a border collie?
Our Border Collie is 16 wks old and was doing really well with his training...that is until this morning. I let him out of his crate to find that he had had an accident so I let him out. Then I gave him a bath. After that, while I was getting ready for work, he pooped and peed in the kitchen. Can anyone explain what's going on? I really thought that he was doing well.FYI Katarina Crate training is an important part of a dogs overall training. It teaches independence and it also give them a place that is just for them a den if you will . Oh yeah, and puppy pads don't work. This isn't my first puppy, just my first border collie.
Pug house training problems?
Help We have a pug which is nearly 2 years old now, and we are still having problems with his house training. He has been trained using a clicker numerous times with success but every couple of months he rebels and loses his house training and starts to poo around the flat. He has also now started pooing in his cage at night which he is only in for the duration of the night because he cant be trusted around the flat . I've always read that dogs don't do their business in their immediate living space but this obviously isn't the case We have come to the conclusion its a behavioural thing and that he's doing it because he wants to and not because he actually needs to go. We take him out as late as possible at night but before we have chance to get up early enough to take him out the next morning, he's already done it in his cage. Im really at the end of my tether with him and we have run out of options. Any help would be appreciated because this is going to be the third or fourth time this year he will be trained again and its getting tedious and annoying now. Thanks
