Has anyone had troubles with house training a yorkie?
i have a 4 month old yorkie mix and she will not go to the bathroom outside i will go out with her for 30 or 40 minutes then she comes in and goes on the pee pee pad or on the kitchen floor...im not use to small dogs i have always had big dogs and never had these issues...help pleasethanks for your help i will just keep trying with her and try and convince the wife that the pee pads are a bad idea which is what i thought in the begining and as far as giving her to a shelter like the aspca that will NEVER happen.
Any suggestions on house training a 6 month old pitbull?
i am adopting a 6 mnth old pit bull and would like to know the best way to go about potty training and command training my puppy.if all you are gong to do is put down the type of dog i choose to adopt then dont bother emailing please. i dont believe everything im told about pit bulls, i owned a beautiful purebred american pit bull when i brought my daughter home from the hospital. when my little girl was assleep, my pit would lick her or nudge her to make sure she was breahing, YES my PIT actually checked on my daughter. so yes i love pits and will adopt one
How do I start house training a puppy?
Is it okay to put my puppy outside in the middle of learning house training ?
My dog has been having diarrhea problems and I'm thinking about putting him outside for the next two days to sleep since the vet told me it'd last about two days. He is in the middle of crate training, but keeps having diarrhea in his crate so therefore it's difficult. Would it be okay if I let him sleep outside for two or three nights, even though we're trying to crate train him? Thank you
Help! Trying to house training my new pup in the snow...?
I live in Maryland and we have had two major snow storms the past week. I got my new puppy right before the first storm.. The snow is about 3' high by now and climbing. The problem is house training her. She will not go to the bathroom outside. She persists going on the floor of my apartment. She apparently hates the snow and throws a barking fit when I bring her outside to go potty. And to top it off, the minute I put her down in the apartment, she relieves herself on the carpet Anyone have any helpful tips? I am about to pull my hair out...

she gives very few and very faint clues to let me know she has to go, and sometimes she just goes my dad says a housetrained dog should know to hold it until i say get back from school. of course that only applies for short and logical periods of times. she can't hold it forever but i need some pointers on how to get Pheobe shes a weenie dog to let me know when shes got to use it i was thinking maybe a bark or a paw at the door, but i'm not really sure how to teacher that. she is really smart pup, and she is willing to learn, but i guess her owner needs more training first lol
How do I litter/house training a rabbit?
I have a new 9 week old rabbit who is actually very good. He poos and wees in his cage and litter and only on a few occations has he done this in the room. However the last few days he has discovered the sofa. He loves it and is jumping up onto the sofa and instantly weeing and continually pooing on it. As soon as he's on the ground he's fine but I've had to stop him from the sofa which is a shame because he loves to play and relax on it. How am I to train him not to poo and wee on the sofa?
Can anyone give me house training tips?
My family is having the hardest time house training our cavachon puppy. We take him out constantly, but for some reason he refuses to relieve himself outside. When he poops or pees inside, we make him look at it and yell " NO " and then lightly smack him on the nose. This worked for our last dog, but it doesn't seem to be working for this one.Any ideas?
What to do about house-training my boxer?
Ok, so I'm completely lost as to what else to do with my boxer. I'm trying to train him the way I trained my black lab and it's completely not working. I'm not the greatest with thinking of new ideas and I've heard that puppy pads are not the greatest thing if your dog chews everything up. He has this one room in my house that he decided that it's his " potty room" It doesn't matter if he JUST came inside from going potty, but he'll go in that room and take a dump or pee. Each time I notice it, I take him in there and spank him and throw him outside for a little bit then when he comes back inside, I put his nose in it again and throw him in his cage. Anyone have any ideas on what else I can try doing to deter him from going inside and actually taking it outside?
What's the best way to house train a puppy?
my puppy is 10 weeks old and we want to start teaching her house training straight away. She does wee on the puppy pads, but she won't do it when I'm or other people in the household are around. She doesn't wee outside because of this, and I feel like she's never going to be house trained What's the best way possible?
Help! My house trained/adult dog has started pooping on the carpet!?
We adopted our dog 4 year old, German short haired pointer mix a little over a year ago and have had no house training problems in the past. We have recently moved into a new house we have moved into new house before with her andover the past month she has pooped on the floor 4 times now. I have researched this online and everyone says it's because we just moved, but it's been over a month, and we've moved before with her. We shampooed the carpets before we moved in so it's not another dog's scent and the poop is not loose so I don't have any concerns that she is sick. She usually is crated but three times when we just ran to the store for 15min we gated her in the kitched... All three times she escaped and pooped on the floor. The fourth time she pooped we were in the house watching TV. We take her out every single time before we leave somehwere and generally every 3 or 4 hours I'm at home during the day so it's not like she doesn't have a chance to go. Sorry for such a long question but I really need help and I wanted to cover all aspects of the problem. Thanks in advance
House training my 18month old bitch?
I have had a saluki greyhound bitch since she was a pup,but no matter what i do she just doesnt seem to understand that she is not to do her business in the house. I have tried her in a crate,which she promptly destroyed.I have had owned numerous breeds of dogs over the years and have never had a problem house training them within a few months. Any suggestions?Am at my wits end now.She goes outside regurlarly and she does toilet,but she continues to do it inside. Thanks Karen I will try the food and water thing as everything else has been tried.She goes outside with my jack russell bitch and watches her but nothing has 'twigged'
How do i house train my puppies?
My two puppies are 4months old now. male and a female jack russel cross daschund. There mother, from a different owner, was killed when they were two weeks old, so basically they were hand reared by there mothers owner. the problem is that non of the usual house training techniques seem to work. They simply wont do their doggy do's in the designated areas. Its gotten so bad that I am considering to give them to someone else, obviously a loving home. But I dont really think or agree that one should get rid of a pet, a member of the family, simply because they exxasperate you. Please can someone give me some sort of idea on other methods of housetraining a puppy. Pretty soon they will reach the age where you just cant teach them that.note wherever the puppies have done their business, the area has always been disinfected and cleaned properly, so the smell doesnt stay which apparently encourages them to do it again . HELP
