Can you suggest how to train a dog who seems to want to attack a child?
My neighbor has a dog who has a pretty mean bark and she's very intimidating, lunging at people she's fenced . We live in a townhouse situation where all our front doors are within a hundred yards or so, so it's really an " in your face" kind of situation. I'm comfortable with dogs so I spoke with the neighbor and told him he could give me some of her treats so I could help train her to be friendlier. It's worked and she's much better. She's happy to see me and is fine with the older kids in the neighborhood. I've taken the youngest child in the neighborhood who is five and through the fence, her hand in mine, we have fed the dog together. OK, we're making progress it seemed.Just now the dog owner was going to take the dog for a walk and the dog lunged at the little girl. It was very scary The owner reprimanded the dog. I got the treats out to try to teach her that the kid is good etc. The owner said the dog barked because I held the girl and that the dog was jealous. I don't trust that dog but I don't see the guy getting rid of her any time soon. My goal here is to teach that dog not to bark or God forbid anything else at any children. The owner is pretty open to advice from me. We live in a very small town and there aren't any dog trainers around.I've trained all my dogs to be gentle with kids and I've had a pit bull mix, a doberman, and a chow mix but this dog is not mine so I'm not sure the best way to do that.All help is appreciated, so thanks in advance.Yikes The two answers so far are both out of my control. Add They were originally crate trained. Now they only stay in their crates when we leave the apartment. I have baby gates to gate off areas as well. They are completely potty trained for outside but not for this new pottyI have a 2 year old Minature Poodle and a 1 year old Jack Russell Terrier mixI'm pregnant and on bed rest so my husband has had to take over everything. The doc feels the bedrest is only temporary, I'm in my second trimester and we just have to make sure everything is okay before she clears me to go on with regular activity.They dogs had been getting 3 walks a day. I did the two morning walks before it gets hot. EArly morning and then mid morning. And hubby would do the evening walk.Well they are going to be going down to two walks. And the morning walk is being cut shorter because hubby has to leave so early for work.They are going to get about a 25 minute jog in the morning and in the evening they are going to get their usual hour long walk.Normally their morning walk is 45 minutes but he is going to be jogging with them.They've never been too into their mid morning walk, we would go most days but that is mostly a spring fall thing. Winter we only do two anyways.Also we live in a second story apartment and the doc told me no going up and down those stairs to let my dogs out. My hubby can't come home to let them out during the day, he doesn't have that freedom and he commutes into the city. And the few people I know around here work all day in the city. How to train a dog to pee in a dog litter box?
My boyfriend has a dog chihuahua about 6 years old . He puts pee pads on his living room carpet, and not in just one place but maybe 3 or 4 different areas. The dog uses them but also misses the spot so it soaks into the carpet. My boyfriend doesn't seem to do alot of cleaning up carpet shampooing either. I'd like to try to get the dog a little more trained, but after all this time I wonder if it's possible? Is there a meI agree, the dog SHOULD be trained already. I just came into this situation and have to deal with it or just don't go over there. I don't think he is willing to be disciplined enough to help me train the dog but I have to try. How to train a dog to go bathroom on a leash?
We have 3 dogs. Two of them have no problems going to the bathroom in the yard or on a walk while on their leashes. Our third dog he's 4 years old, by the way will pee while on a leash during a walk, but in the yard he won't pee or poop while on his leash. Usually in the yard they aren't on a leash, but if they have to go out at night, for example, and I don't feel like waiting for them to smell everything in the yard, then I'll put them on their leashes so they can quickly go and come right back in. Oliver won't do that, and while all will go bathroom in the house if not able to go out which is another issue altogether , even if I let him out on a leash at night, it's in vain, since he will go inside anyway. Any suggestions?

I am getting a dog this summer Pomeranian They are known for being possessive over toys and such as growling or nipping if someone took the toy. We have a Jack Russell about 7 months old. She has a bad habit of chewing everything the carpet, blankets, food water dishes for some reason she even chews on the bottom of bedroom doors.
