Question: How to train a dog to go bathroom on a leash?

We have 3 dogs. Two of them have no problems going to the bathroom in the yard or on a walk while on their leashes. Our third dog (he's 4 years old, by the way) will pee while on a leash during a walk, but in the yard he won't pee or poop while on his leash. Usually in the yard they aren't on a leash, but if they have to go out at night, for example, and I don't feel like waiting for them to smell everything in the yard, then I'll put them on their leashes so they can quickly go and come right back in. Oliver won't do that, and while all will go bathroom in the house if not able to go out (which is another issue altogether), even if I let him out on a leash at night, it's in vain, since he will go inside anyway. Any suggestions? |
