Does anyone know how to stop a 11month old puppy from barking at other animals on the tv or at noises in the street, she is driving me bonkers. I've tried a water bottle it doesn't work on her she just tries to get the water to drink it haha.

Oh, my, I just say "no barking " the second the puppy starts barking and when she stops barking, I say "good girl " The next time she barks, I say "no barking " until she stops barking and when she stops barking, I say "good girl " My puppies are trained to please me, so I address behavior issues the second they start and teach them the behaviors I allow, and don't allow, and praise them when they are good, so they know to keep doing the right behavior. I may have to address behavior issues until I win the war, but the time I spend on them as puppies pays off later. you get out of them what you put into them.

Wow I've had the same problem with Maya, my 6 month old chocolate lab puppy. All I tell her is "No " and if she doesn't stop I give her a gentle smack on her nose. She usually stops, Make sure you praise them afterword and give her some love afterword so she knows you still love her.

If yelling at them to stop when it happens isn't working you can use a bark collar that will issue a mild shock when it barks

Well I found that newspaper just roll it up and tap your dog on the head with it not to hurt them but it works very well also with paper training and also when you use the paper also have a strong grip on the leash and after a few times with your command it should stop but make sure you use a firm voice to make them understand to stop the barking and stress to the when you use this method no in you strongest voice and it does work I have a red nose and he would bark at neighbors anyone but withe the rolled newspaper poped on his head and I said no worked !!!!!!

My dad has shown, bred, owned dogs for a long time!!!! We do german shepherds. And in our experience we have found that opening there lip and spraying some vinegar mixed with water does the trick!!! Or for the more persistant dogs vinegar. Trust me it works!! No one likes a yapping dog.

A bark collar. These devices have a bad wrap, particularly from those who've never used them, but they are relatively benign, they work very well. Buy a good one with adjustable settings. It'll cost somewhere in the $150.00 range, you can order them at petsupplyhouse.com . This is one of only a few problems that I advise the use of e-type collars. Never use and e-collar to avoid doing the work of being a Pack Leader.
