A speech from the trainer telling you what the goals are of the class, what things will be taught, a little puppy socialization, and how to teach the first command that will be expected to be worked on for that week. (Probably some forms to filled out and vaccination records recorded, as well) They will also tell you what training tools they want you to use, as in type of collar and leash, treats, if you need a short and long lead, flexi-lead, etc.

Group or independant? Your dog might be excited to see other dogs so keep him on a lead and not a retractable leash. Keep lots of treats handy in a pocket, and a bag or two. Also, make sure he is exercised and went to the bathroom before. If he is well socialized, he may make some new friends.

Well I took my pup to Petsmart. The first day is pretty much getting warmed up and informed about what your pup will learn. You dont do anything major the first day, but you may want to bring treats just in case. Then the second class for me was about your pet learning its name, then the next week was sit, and so on. Hope this helped, dont worry about puppy class its nothing scary!

The facility you're taking your puppy to should have informed you about what to bring with. I would say for the average puppy class bring a leash and collar (or harness), any vaccination papers that are required and some soft meaty treats that are easy for the puppy to eat such as diced hot dogs or little pieces of chicken breast. Make sure you take your puppy to the bathroom before you leave and once you get there. He will more than likely either be very excited or posibly scared. It depends on his personality. Just keep an open mind and don't get frustrated with him. He is learning and the teachers will help you either control his behavior or get him to open up. Be prepared to listen. Majority of the time, if you go to a class and get nothing out of it it is because you were not paying attention. The people that succede are the ones that pay attention. ;) good luck and have fun!
