If my bedroom and bathroom are the only accessible areas, is puppy training still possible?

Question: If my bedroom and bathroom are the only accessible areas, is puppy training still possible?

Yes, if there is no such thing as an outside (I do take it out for exercise, as far as my own space, there's no outside). Peeing indoors I could probably train him to do with pads and whatnot. He has an eating and sleep space. Yeah they're in the same room, but not directly next to each other. Is there anything I should look out for? What can/ cannot be put close together? How about poop? Should I skip the pee pads and get those tray things where he can pee AND poop? Can he poop on a pee pad? This is my first dog. He's about 4 weeks old. Half rottweiler and pitbull (is that how i should describe him? the mother is a pitbull and the father was half rottweiler and pitbull) The dog is only going to stay in the house in the morning, when he wakes up, and at night when he's about to sleep. Other than that, I'll take him outside. I'm just talking outside as in sidewalk, I don't have a big backyard. Is that bad? It's not like I want him to stay in the house. I don't like that for myself!

Why would you want to get a dog, that will obviously be quite large, when it can't go outside? I can only imagine how disgusting your place will smell. UGH! Uh, why can't you walk the dog several times a day? A dog, as well as any other dog, needs to be able to run freely in a fenced yard. What moron did you get a 4 week old pup from? You need to turn these irresponsible backyard greeders into your local animal control department for selling pups that are too young.

Why would you want to get a large breed dog if you can't even go outside. This is actually cruel to the dog. 4 weeks is also waaaay too young.

Take him back to his mother- he is HALF the age a dog should be when separated from its parents. You are causing him great stress on his immune system by being separate from his mother and stressing him. He is also WAY more likely to become aggressive to other dogs as an adult because of the lack of socialization with his littermates. You are not in a position to own a dog. They need to go outside. You can't expect him to transition from using potty pads to peeing outside when you do get a place he can go outside. You've also picked VERY bad breeds for a first-time owner. Both rottweilers and pit bulls require a lot of exercise and an expert handler as they're very high energy. Take the dog back and get yourself a goldfish.

First thing is first, there is no such thing as 50/ 50 this. It's a mix, you don't now what genes it got from what parents. Second thing: Why do you have a 4 week old pup? He should still be with his mother and litter mates. Third: Take him back to the BYB or take a class on puppy care. I hope you're giving him puppy milk as he should still be on it.

Of course it is possible. You cannot have the dog pooping and peeing inside. You will have many other issues if you allow that to happen. You will want a cage to train him and then he will let you know when he has to go out. I recommend that you get a trainer to help you with other problems. They will be able to help you with house training as well. You can find someone for a reasonable fee and it is well worth the money. The first year is very important in training a dog because the rest of his live will be much easier. Good Luck

First of all let me not be as cruel as some of the others have answered. Unless the mother of your new baby is dead or the owners have moved and left no forwarding address , yes I agree you should be taking him/ her back to the nest until this little one is of age to be away from its mother. Second; we as human must remember that although we do like to humanize our pets we must not forget that we have removed them from natural environment which is the out doors and as such they need to remain connected to the out of doors so that can keep their god given traits in tact. Schedule your dog for walks, playtime (fetch @running) and just bonding time outside when you get him or her back. Dog Lover!!!!

Every dog needs to be able to go OUTSIDE. They don't need to live outside but they need to be able to go to the bathroom OUTSIDE. If you don't have time to take him out side then maybe a dog is not for you. Maybe try a cat or a hampster. Dogs need to be able to go outside at least three times a day. Every day.

Yes, it is definitely possible. Whether you have a new puppy or an older dog, you are going to find that the essential lessons and methods of housetraining are the same. Age does not apply to how you get your dog to urinate and defecate outside. The positive reinforcement and routine is going to be what teaches your dog to become housebroken, not anything else. When you begin housebreaking your puppy, you might think of it as you would if you were training him to behave. Training is teaching a new behavior. You might train your dog to sit or stay. The puppy obviously knows how to urinate and defecate. You are just teaching it where he will need to go to do it. Shown here are the guidelines, dogtime.com/ housetraining-for-puppies.html
