Take her out on a leash. First thing in the morning (like 6 AM), after she eats, after she gets up from a nap, when you get home, after dinner, and before bed. When she goes, praise her. Get a crate and crate her when you can't supervise her unless she is used to eliminating in a crate, and then it won't be that helpful. |

You will have to take her out on a leash for a while, and be out with her until she does her business. She has been traumatized by being kept locked up for so long. Also, try PetSmart for training classes. Don't give up on her. One day soon, you will be so in love with that animal that it will be like your kid. It takes some money to get the dog trained. Good luck to you. |

I know something, just take your dog out every day, maybe every few hours, idk, and see if she has to go, do that a lot and she will eventually learn |

Any housetraining whether it's a puppy or dog, involves the owner being outside with the dog to reinforce correct behavior. Praise her when she goes outside, take her outside immediately if you see her starting to go indoors. Correction after finding a mess she's made earlier in the house teaches her nothing. It's useless to send her outside alone, especially if she's spent 6 months in a cage. You'll have to start with her as if she were an 8 week old pup as she's had no training at all cuhumane.org/ topics/ hseold.html add: A week is not a long enough time to correct this. Either he'll have to accept some progress if you're diligent, or bring her back to the shelter right now. Is your husband helping with the training at all? |

I'm not sure you'll be able to do it in a week, but it should be able to be better in a week. we have an 8 month old puppy -- who picked up on this very quickly. we took him out -- on a leash about every 20 - to 30 minutes in the begining, and then stretched it out a little at a time. be sure to have some treats with you and praise him and give him a treat when he goes outside. it will take some dedication on your part, but he'll get it eventually. good luck! |

It was very irresponsible of you to adopt an abused dog, not knowing how to train her or with having the support of your husband. She's been through enough without you putting her through more! If you had no idea how to train her, then WHY on earth did you pick her? It'd be bad enough with any puppy let alone one that's been traumatized! I just don't get people who take pets home with no understanding of what it's gonna take to properly care for and train them! I'll bet money you didn't even bother to get a book on puppy training either! Take the poor thing back and DO NOT adopt anymore pets, til you've educated yourself on how to train them and care for them and you have your husband's support on bringing home a pet FOR IT'S ENTIRE LIFE! |

It will probably take longer to poddy train a dog then a week but some tips are. - take her out every 20-30 min until she does her bussiness make sure you take her to the same spot every time after a while thats the only place she will go - At night when she is in the house or when you are gone put her in a small creat where she only has enough room to lie down turn aroud and sit if she wants to. The reason you want it small is because if it is to large she will defecate on one end and stay on the other that won't help anyhting. when you get home or in the morning the first thing you need to do is take her out to go poddy (Just do this untill she gets poddy trained) - When she does potty in the floor put her in her crate for 5-10 min. use a rough voice but not mean to let her no that it is not acceptable to poddy in the house. When you let her out of the crate take her strait outside. Hope I helped if you want to ask me anything about what I wrote you can private message me. |

You may experience some additional problems because the dog is a boxer (not the smartest but still lovely) and more so because it has been traumatised. However, patience will see you through, providing you stay calm. Always remember, the dog will take its behaviour/ fear/ tension cues from you so its really important for you to stay calm and confident when handling the dog no-matter what the situations throws at you. Here is the basic key for poopee training a puppy. The process is to programme the desire to be outside when peeing or pooping by anticipating the times when the dog is likely to pee and poop then to quickly put the dog outside on grass or earth, not concrete or pavement, at those times and in advance of the poopee. It is not as difficult as it sounds with puppies because the most common times for pooping and peeing are immediately after the dog has eaten and immediately it awakes from a sleep. If you put the dog outside at these times it will quickly acquire the programming. |

WHERE EVER YOU GOT YOUR DOG FROM ITS A LIE BECAUSE MY DOGS SPEND THEIR WHOLE LIFE IN A CAGE AND THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE..SO FIRST YOU HAVE TO GAIN TRUST,THEN THATS WHEN TRAINING TAKES OFF TAKE HER OUT MAYBE 6-8 TIMES A DAY SO SHE WILL UNDERSTAND TO POTTY OUTSIDE..A CAGE CNT TRAUMATIZE A DOG ITS WHERE THEY SUPPOSE TO GO...UNLESS YOU TRAIN THEM TO JUST STAY IN THE HOUSE MY DOGS HAVE NO PROBLEM WHEN I SAY 'HOUSE'....MAKE SURE THERE ALSO IS FOOD AND WATER TOO.... |
