Is it hard to house train a dog?

Question: Is it hard to house train a dog?

(Posted by: sldd' ♥ on 2010-02-11 22:46:36)

Is it hard to house train a dog, and how do you do it? It sounds hard, and I think it would be really hard. I want an inside dog, but I wouldnt want one if it cant be toilet trained. This question might make me sound stupid, but I have never house trained a dog before and was just wondering how do you do it? If you have an inside dog that you have house trained, how did you do it? Thank you (: Not as in to use the toilet, as in to go outside. obviously.

It all depends on the dog & your training methods. With my dogs it only took a little over a week.

It's not hard it's being dedicated and consistent. It takes time. Most 'failure' of dogs to house train are actually owner failures. Ask your vet for a hand out about training. It will explain many things. It takes time and patience and a real schedule and consistency on your part.

You take them out about once an or or once every hr in a half in the beginning. Then you let them sniff around and stuff, but dont play with them UNTIL they have done their job (potty). Then praise them up and down and bring them in. Some dogs train fast others take longer. Im sure other people have some ideas. They also sell some *potty* spray that you can spray outside that makes the dog want to do their buisness in the spot you sprayed it in.

Hi, The keys to good housetraining include: Using a crate to prevent accidents and make it more likely that your pup will eliminate when you take her outside; and Rewarding your puppy handsomely whenever she does the right thing in the right place. Punishing your pup for mistakes can actually make housetraining harder. Here are more training tips: lnk.nu/ dogtime.com/ ry4.html
