How do you potty train a puppy?

Question: How do you potty train a puppy?

(Posted by: Kaytee. on 2010-02-26 11:45:01)

I have a backyard, and my schedule isn't consistent, but daily I'm gone about 4- 6 hours. When I'm gone I would just put it out, but we have a pond that my dogs have fallen into. I don't want it to learn to pee on newspaper anytime. How do I begin with training a brand new puppy?

Potty training is, to most owners, the first and most important kind of training a puppy needs. When it comes to potty training, all pups are not created equal. Some breeds are known for being easy to potty train while others are more difficult—this should be one of the things you look into as you explore different breeds. Individual puppies also vary. Be patient. A puppy is a baby, and babies need time to master acceptable potty procedures. Young puppies don't have complete control of their bladders or bowels, and sometimes by the time they realize they have to go, they simply can't hold it any longer. It's your job to keep your puppy off your carpets until he's reliably trained, to teach him where he should go, and to be patient when he has an accident. More training tips, pho.se/ byr

Buy a play pen for the puppy get a puppypads and a crate if you let your pup have too much freedom in your house you'll have a problem slowly but surly expand the space let the pup out right when you wake up, before you leave, and before you go to bed.

IF U DONT HAVE TIME TO TRAIN it then u shouldnt have one..u need take the pup out every 30 minutes till it gets the idea, and u should be aware of the signs thet it needs to go out. Too often I read about people who cant potty train their dogs, and such will be your case cause u dont have time for it.

Use crate. Crates make particularly good tools for two important training tasks: * Crates make housetraining simple. * Crates help prevent boredom and separation anxiety. Check these links for more info. lnk.nu/ dogtime.com/ s02.html lnk.nu/ dogtime.com/ uxr.html
